Animal messages for these times

What a great reminder for humans to support and care for one another! A great lesson and a smile for the day. ~Kat

NAIROBI

( AFP )A baby hippopotamus that survived the
tsunami waves on the Kenyan coast has formed a strong

bond with a giant male century-old tortoise in an animal

facility in the port city of
Mombassa , officials said
The hippopotamus, nicknamed
Owen and weighing about

300 kilograms (650 pounds), was swept down Sabaki

River
into the Indian Ocean , then forced back to shore
when tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on

December 26, before wildlife rangers rescued him.

“It is incredible. A -less-than-a-year-old hippo has adopted a
male tortoise, about a
century old, and the tortoise seems to
be very happy with being a ‘mother’,” ecologist Paula Kahumbu,

who is in charge of
Lafarge Park , told AFP .

“After it was swept away and lost its mother, the hippo was traumatized.
It had to look for something to be a surrogate mother

Fortunately
, it landed on the tortoise and established a strong bond.
They swim, eat and sleep together,” the ecologist added.

“The hippo follows the tortoise exactly the way it followed its mother.

If somebody approaches the tortoise, the hippo becomes aggressive,

as if protecting its biological mother,” Kahumbu added.

“The hippo is a young baby, he was left at a very tender age and
by nature, hippos are social animals that like to stay with their

mothers for four years,” he explained.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.”

This is a real story that shows that our differences don’t matter
much when we need the comfort of another.

We could all learn a lesson from these two creatures of God,

“Look beyond the differences and find a way to walk the path together.”

Save  the Earth… it’s the only planet with chocolate.

“Those who bring sunshine into the lives

of others, cannot keep it from themselves.”

  1. 🙂 Alot of information, I have hever seen before a such useful thing. Thank you 🙂

  2. ive been a christian all my life but as i got older and able to form my own beliefs, ive been feeling a deception of some sort.. ive always felt i didnt belong here. my mind drifts off to a beautiful place often with clear lakes, grass, flowers, water fall (small ones), trees, perfect temperature and a feeling of peace you wouldnt believe(from chilhood even). ive been having dreams and people( mainly my boyfriend with the earth rock and crystal addiction) are sharing dreams that all lead to website links like these. christian fear has kept me from going in too deep but something more natural seems to be trying hard to show me something..

giving me clues and pieces.. how do you know ?
i mean the stories of indigo or crystal people or spiritual assignments? spirituality is something thats always been felt but not proven physically or seen..how can i even know whats real, who or what i am or my purpose here..why must i try and save every stray cat but find human company not very desirable if its not immediate family? my boy friend is 12 years younger than me which is not unusual for the female generations of my mother. but is the best man ive ever had in my life. people are drawn to him and depend on him to cheer them up or make them laugh.(which of course brings me lots of household company.. why is talking to the elderly or the homeless more acceptable than company of my peers. it seems people who are considered an outcast by society always ends up visiting or living in my home as a guest.why cant i say no? i have so many thoughts trying to reach my brain it gives me a headache. ive never felt so lost and confused in my life..is this whole thing for me blasphemy or a revalation of truth finally? how can i get more answers?
